FisketipsNorge is a calm, map-first fishing companion built for real-world use along the coast and beyond. Save fishing spots, log catches with notes and photos, and explore tips and “Good Conditions” powered by advanced tide and weather context.

What we collect
- Account details: email and optional username/display name.
- Photos and files you upload, including profile images, catches, fishing spots and fishing cards.
- Posts, comments and reactions in Feed and FiskeTeam.
- Location data when you request features such as maps, weather and tides.
- Technical logs and app/device information for troubleshooting and operations.
Purpose and legal basis
- Providing core app features such as maps, saved spots, catches, Feed and FiskeTeam.
- Showing weather, tide and map information around your location.
- Sending notifications for Good Conditions and favorites when enabled.
- Providing AI-powered explanations and fishing guidance when such features are used.
- Improving stability, fixing bugs and maintaining the service.
- Complying with legal obligations when required.
Location services
Location is used only when you request features such as maps, weather and tide information. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings.
Notifications
We only send notifications if you have allowed them in the app, for example for Good Conditions or favorite places. You can turn notifications on or off in device settings.
Storage and deletion
- Account and content data are stored in Firebase.
- You can delete your own content in the app and request account deletion.
- Data is retained only as long as needed for the purposes described here, or until deletion is requested.
AI / OpenAI
Some features use AI to provide explanations, tips and text suggestions. AI is only used when you actively use features that require it.
- AI may be used to calculate and explain local fishing conditions based on place, weather and tide data.
- There is no general AI chat in the app.
- AI does not receive free-form user text unless a feature clearly requires user-provided input.
- AI results may contain errors and are intended as guidance only. Always use your own judgment.
Fishing cards
You can store fishing cards in the app. These may be uploaded and stored in the cloud so they are available across devices.
- Files may be PDF or image files such as JPEG or PNG.
- Fishing cards are stored in Firebase Storage linked to your account.
- If OCR/text recognition is used, the image is processed locally where possible.
Profiles visible from Feed
When you publish in Feed, other users may open a public profile based on what you choose to share.
- The profile may show display name, profile image and aggregated counters.
- Only content you have made public should be visible to others.
- You can change visibility for parts of your profile in profile settings.
FiskeTeam and competitions
You can participate in FiskeTeam and competitions. Team data is processed to show membership, results and content shared within the team.
- Teams may include members, roles and competitions.
- Content shared in a team may be visible to team members, and possibly public depending on team settings.
- Aggregated results such as points and placements may be stored to show scoreboards.
Processors and third-party services
- Google Firebase — authentication, Firestore, Storage, profile data, content, feed, fishing spots, fishing cards and team data.
- OpenAI — AI-generated tips and explanations in selected features.
- MET Norway — local weather data.
- Kartverket — tide information.
User-generated content
Feed should be a safe and useful place to share fishing experiences. All content must follow these rules:
- Be respectful and constructive. No harassment or hate speech.
- Only share content you have the right to share.
- Respect other people’s privacy.
- No pornographic, violent or grossly offensive content.
- Follow laws and rules for fishing, species and conservation.
Prohibited content
- Illegal content or encouragement of illegal activity.
- Harassment, threats or discriminatory speech.
- Copyright, trademark or intellectual property infringement.
- Doxxing or sharing sensitive information without consent.
- Spam, fraud or misleading practices.
Content rights and license
You retain rights to your content. By uploading content, you grant FisketipsNorge a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display and distribute that content in the app to provide the service. You may delete your content in the app at any time.
Moderation and reporting
We may moderate, hide or remove content and suspend accounts in case of repeated or serious violations. You can report content by contacting us at post@driftstudio.no.
Security
- Encryption in transit using HTTPS.
- Access control and role-based rules in Firestore.
- Data minimization — we only store what is needed.
Your rights
- Access, correction and deletion.
- Restriction of processing and data portability.
- Withdrawal of consent for location, notifications and AI features.
- The right to complain to your supervisory authority.
Children
The service is not specifically directed at children. Guardians may contact us to request deletion of any data.
Changes
We may update these terms when functionality or regulations change. Material changes may be announced in the app.
